class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Take this comment, for instance:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Many flowering plants, including orchids, wilted in the high temperatures, meaning insects like bees and butterflies that feed on nectar and pollen will have less to eat, Ali Morse from the Wildlife Trusts told BBC News.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Species with short lifespans are particularly badly affected. Many butterflies are adults for only a short time, and if they cannot access food in that period, it stunts the population.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>These impacts are more surprising considering the wet and cold spring and are earlier than last year, Ms Morse added.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8220;<strong>Every month seems to be the hottest, the driest, the wettest, or whichever record-breaking event it i<\/strong>s. If we have a one-off pollution event or a wildfire, then there is normally time for nature to bounce back, but now it seems to be continually pounded by extreme weather,&#8221; she added.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEvery month seems to be the hottest, the driest, the wettest, or whichever record-breaking event it is.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Really, Ms Morse?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you really believe that, you are living in a fantasy world! However, there has only been one, solitary record since 2015, and that was of course last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And rainfall? Again, just one monthly record since 2014; that was February 2020.
