class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The de-intensification of the hydrological cycle has also been documented for the second half of the 20th century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The highest frequency of global-scale extreme rainfall events occurred from 1960-1980 \u2212 when there were concerns about cooling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since then, the frequency and intensity of rainfall events have \u201cdecreased remarkably\u201d (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/hess.copernicus.org\/articles\/24\/3899\/2020\/\">Koutsoyiannis, 2020<\/a><\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n<div
