The National Coal Transportation Association invited CFACT President Craig Rucker to address their annual meeting in Scottsdale, Arizona last week. During his speech, Rucker took aim at the Biden Administration\u2019s \u201call of government\u201d approach to tackling climate change and for directing the nation toward a reckless \u201cnet zero\u201d emissions goal by 2050.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Administration\u2019s efforts at achieving a goal of \u2018net zero\u2019 is foolish,\u201d Rucker argued, \u201cbecause it is based on a flawed premise, it\u2019s not going to work, and there are better alternatives.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CFACT\u2019s president went on to explain that what\u2019s driving Biden\u2019s push to dismantle our nation\u2019s energy structure is based on overhyped fears of an impending, climate Armageddon. \u201cNo such crisis exists,\u201d Rucker maintained. To bolster his argument, he showcased numerous facts that refuted common perceptions of increased hurricane activity and heat waves, as well as hype surrounding polar bears, rapid sea level rise, and runaway temperatures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rucker then took aim at the core of net zero agenda \u2014 the reliance on renewable energy from the sun and wind as a replacement for fossil fuels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThese sources of energy are not only intermittent and expensive, but they also are hardly \u2018green\u2019 in nature,\u201d he said. \u201cIn fact, they are fabricated from minerals mined in parts of the world with terrible environmental standards, are toxic in nature, and pose a clear and present threat to endangered species such as whales and eagles.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He concluded his 45-minute speech to a crowd of roughly 70 energy professionals by noting that the fight to preserve our energy infrastructure is being spearheaded by citizens and state legislators. He pointed to the recently passed \u201cEnergy Security Bill\u201d in Utah, as well as the backlash by citizens to offshore wind because of its impact on endangered Right whales in New Jersey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
