Once again, hockey sticks get generated where the original data doesn\u2019t show it. The only conclusion you can make is that the data and the method have been adjusted to fit a preconceived and desired result. This series of Tweets has been compiled here for easier access and readability. \u2013 Anthony<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">[M]ost readers are familiar with famous \u201chide the decline\u201d from Climategate. Below are 1850-2000 parts of 5 series calculated from Asian tree ring data, explained below. As discussed long ago at Climate Audit, Mann chopped off the offending declines and replaced them with temperature data. This was a different incident to the IPCC diagram or the 1999 WMO \u201chide the decline\u201d diagram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(4) PAGES2K (2013) introduced a novel Asia reconstruction (Cook et al) from tree rings in which late 20th C decline observed in Schweingruber data did not exist. Closing values were similar to high values at mid-20th century. The difference was not reconciled by PAGES2K.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(5) the current PAGES reconstruction \u2013 the \u201cWoke Reconstruction\u201d for short and used in IPCC AR6 \u2013 contained a subset of the PAGES2K Asia dset, the average of which yields a monster blade. The \u201cdecline\u201d is in the Woke rear-view mirror.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A few years ago, I had noticed that some of the tree ring chronologies underlying the Woke Reconstruction had enormous closing blades that did not appear possible to replicate using standard methodologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/climateaudit.org\/2021\/08\/15\/pages19-asian-tree-ring-chronologies\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wattsupwiththat.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/image-1.png?resize=507%2C354&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10245143\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I did a couple of Twitter threads as well:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I&#39;ve triple checked the calculations. While the versions differ dramatically, they also clearly come from the same data (due to high frequency similarity). Where did PAGES2K chronologies for paki033 and indo005 come from? Jacoby: \u201cFifteen years is not a delay. It is a time for poorer quality data to be neglected and not archived.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/climateaudit.org\/2005\/02\/06\/jacoby-1-a-few-good-series\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wattsupwiththat.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/image-3.png?resize=530%2C188&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10245147\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">anyway, reader @detodehab got intrigued with the puzzling Asian tree ring chronologies and reverse engineered their calculation. He replicated the results to every detail. No one could have possibly imagined the actual calculation from details in PAGES2K or Cook et al 2013.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s hard for a statistical methodology to be so bad as to be \u201cwrong\u201d. Mann\u2019s principal components methodology was one seemingly unique example. PAGES2K\u2019s Asian tree ring chronologies are another. It\u2019s worse than anyone can imagine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">unfortunately, exposition of the defective calculation are technical and will take some time. But for now, the monster blade of the \u201cWoke\u201d PAGES 2019 Asian tree ring data is bogus. Which should come first:<br>1) narrative of detective work by which calculation was reverse engineered<br>2) pathologies of PAGES2K Asia tree ring methodology<br>Not all Asia chronologies are pathological, but biggest blades are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">on the left is description of PAGES Asia2K chronologies and on right is my brief description of their actual algorithm as deduced by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/detgodehab\">@detgodehab<\/a>\u00a0and verified by me.
