Northern lights spilled out of the Arctic Circle all the way down to the US-Mexico border (+29.5N):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/spaceweathergallery2.com\/indiv_upload.php?upload_id=195567\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/spaceweather.com\/images2023\/24apr23\/texas2_strip.jpg?resize=723%2C604&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"723\" height=\"604\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI was out shooting the night sky in the Big Bend region of Texas when I saw&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.spaceweatheralerts.com\/\">the alerts<\/a>&nbsp;of the severe geomagnetic storm,\u201d says photographer Brad Dwight. \u201cI decided to point my camera north just to see if I could see anything.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/spaceweathergallery2.com\/indiv_upload.php?upload_id=195567\">These pillars<\/a>&nbsp;exploded into view.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In neighboring Arizona, David Blanchard made a video of the geomagnetic glow:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-vimeo wp-block-embed-vimeo wp-embed-aspect-18-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Red Auroras over Arizona\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/820565134?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"723\" height=\"353\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt was&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/spaceweathergallery2.com\/indiv_upload.php?upload_id=195524\">a spectacular display<\/a>&nbsp;here in Flagstaff (+35.2N),\u201d says Blanchard. \u201cThe video covers the period 0354-0512 UTC on April 24th.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other notable low-latitude sightings in the USA include&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/spaceweathergallery2.com\/indiv_upload.php?upload_id=195465\">southern California<\/a>&nbsp;(+32.5N),&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/spaceweathergallery2.com\/indiv_upload.php?upload_id=195540\">Arizona<\/a>&nbsp;(+34.8N),&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/spaceweathergallery2.com\/indiv_upload.php?upload_id=195425\">Arkansas<\/a>&nbsp;(+35.1 N),&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/spaceweathergallery2.com\/indiv_upload.php?upload_id=195420\">Colorado<\/a>&nbsp;(+38N),&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/spaceweathergallery2.com\/indiv_upload.php?upload_id=195442\">Utah<\/a>&nbsp;(+40.8N),&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/spaceweathergallery2.com\/indiv_upload.php?upload_id=195367\">Oklahoma<\/a>&nbsp;(+36.3N),&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/spaceweathergallery2.com\/indiv_upload.php?upload_id=195518\">North Carolina<\/a>&nbsp;(+36.2N),&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/spaceweathergallery2.com\/indiv_upload.php?upload_id=195394\">Tennessee<\/a>&nbsp;(+35.4N),&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/spaceweathergallery2.com\/indiv_upload.php?upload_id=195349\">New Mexico<\/a>&nbsp;(+35.9N) and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/spaceweathergallery2.com\/indiv_upload.php?upload_id=195407\">Nebraska<\/a>&nbsp;(+40.6N).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There were advantages to being a bit farther north. head and all around. You could visibly see cars and people in the gravel lot that had previously been obscured by darkness. Solar Cycle 25 is just getting started, so this will happen again.
