And there is plenty of the right kind of ice available for those activities this year, as there was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/polarbearscience.com\/2021\/04\/22\/earth-day-2021-celebrate-abundant-sea-ice-habitat-for-polar-bear-feeding-and-mating\/\">two years ago<\/a>\u00a0at the same href=\"https:\/\/polarbearscience.com\/2022\/06\/19\/new-polar-bear-subpopulation-update-more-background-facts-and-details-from-the-paper\/\">east coast of Greenland<\/a>\u00a0and the Russian Far East. Areas of purple in the Bering Sea are thinner ice that are critical feeding habitat at this time of year for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinebio.net\/marinescience\/04benthon\/arcwalrus.htm\">Pacific walrus<\/a>, especially pregnant females that will give birth next month.
