Pinatubo eruption. CO2\u2019s climate effects are claimed to be many times larger than observations indicate.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The observed climate sensitivity (CS) to a perturbation to Earth\u2019s Energy Imbalance (EEI) is, in a new study (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/10.1029\/2023GL102946\">Pauling et al., 2023<\/a><\/strong>), defined as -0.4\u00b0C per -9 W\/m\u00b2, or 0.044\u00b0C per W\/m\u00b2. These values were assessed using observations from Mt. W\/m\u00b2 surface forcing imbalance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the 0.044\u00b0C per W\/m\u00b2 CS to a radiative forcing is accurate, this means an accumulated +75 W\/m\u00b2 perturbation is ultimately required to produce the alleged GMST response (3.3\u00b0C) to a doubling of the CO2 concentration (from 280 to 560 ppm) with feedbacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
