On top of the Covering Climate Now (CCN) that Reuters is embroiled in, Jo Nova has the latest on the Trusted News Initiative (TNI):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What if the news media formed a global monopoly to control the news?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Imagine if the media and tech giants of the world banded together behind-the-scenes to rule certain stories were \u201cmisinformation\u201d and all their agencies thus reported the same \u201cnews\u201d?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s what the Trusted News Initiative aimed to do \u2014 decide what ideas were and were not allowed to be discussed.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s like \u201cfree speech\u201d but without the free part.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not only could the media bury things but they could get away with it if no upstart competitor could red-pill their audience.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It would be the death of the Free Press<\/em><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

In a world like that the people would be ruled mostly by whomever it was that decided what was \u201cmisinformation\u201d. Those controllers would be the defacto Ministry of Truth.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We all saw it happen over the last three years, so it\u2019s good to put a name on the beast, but even better, Robert F Kennedy is suing them for anti-trust violation.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trusted News Initiative, TNI,<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Trusted News Initiative is everything journalists should hate. It\u2019s basically there to \u201cprotect\u201d voters from hearing about things like the Hunter-Biden Laptop, <\/em>good climate news<\/em><\/a> and bad vaccine reactions. TNI practically told us that in 2020:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Trusted News Initiative<\/em><\/a> (TNI) was set up last year [2019, just in time, eh?] to protect audiences and users from disinformation, particularly around moments of jeopardy, such as elections.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nearly everyone\u2019s on board:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Core partners in the TNI are: AP<\/strong>, AFP<\/strong>, BBC<\/strong>, CBC<\/strong>\/Radio-Canada, European Broadcasting Union (EBU), Financial Times, Information Futures Lab, Google\/YouTube<\/strong>, The Hindu, The Nation Media Group, Meta [Facebook],<\/strong> Microsoft<\/strong>, Reuters<\/strong>, Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism, Twitter<\/strong>, The Washington Post, Kompass \u2013 Indonesia, Dawn \u2013 Pakistan, Indian Express \u2013 India, NDTV \u2013 India, ABC<\/strong> \u2013 Australia, SBS<\/strong> \u2013 Australia, NHK \u2013 Japan.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
