Haynes Chair in Geosciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dessler thinks he is demonstrating why we need more renewables. The problem with this position is&nbsp;<strong>Dessler is ignoring the trillions of dollars the USA and the rest of the world have already spent on renewables.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A reasonable expectation would be that all the previous investments in renewables should have yielded some value. But the graph provided by Dessler says it all \u2013 when the price of gas goes up, the price of electricity goes up in lockstep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Renewables are doing nothing to liberate us from the pain of high gas prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some of the smarter politicians have noticed \u2013 smart politicians are busy butt covering, making&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.current-news.co.uk\/news\/role-of-gas-in-setting-consumer-bills-is-problem-that-needs-to-be-addressed-says-kwarteng\" target=\"_blank\">excuses about why the price of electricity is still tied to the price of fuel<\/a>, acting like government intervention is required to correct the market.
