Such was the hype, anyway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then came 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Massive<a href=\"https:\/\/stopthesethings.com\/2021\/11\/06\/natures-revenge-europes-big-calm-reveals-wind-powers-hopeless-unreliability\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&nbsp;month-long wind drought<\/a>s left wind power acolytes red-faced across Europe and forced both the German and British governments to go begging, cap in hand, to the owners and operators of those \u201cageing\u201d coal-fired power plants if they would mind, ever so much, firing up their plants in order to prevent mass blackouts across Germany and the UK. Embarrassing, to be sure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then came Vladimir Putin\u2019s invasion of Ukraine, which exposed the fact he has a chokehold on wind and solar-obsessed Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2018Green\u2019 policies designed to wipe out reliable and affordable coal and nuclear power plants \u2013 on the pretext that they would be replaced by the chaotic output from wind turbines and solar panels \u2013 have long been exposed as delusional nonsense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In reality, to the extent that they are being replaced (or, more accurately, momentarily displaced), reliable coal and nuclear generators are being sidelined by expensive to run and inefficient fast-start up open cycle gas turbines (fuelled by gas or oil) and giant diesel generators, run on diesel or bunker fuel \u2013&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/stopthesethings.com\/2020\/09\/20\/ships-ahoy-giant-diesel-fuelled-ship-engines-solution-for-australias-renewable-energy-crisis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">their piston engines are the same as used in oceangoing ships<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And guess who holds the lion\u2019s share of the oil and gas that fires northern Europe\u2019s gas and diesel generators?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That would, of course, be Vlad the Energy Impaler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Europe\u2019s efforts to rely upon hopelessly unreliable wind and solar, combined with its addiction to Russian gas has threatened the purported certainty of the \u2018inevitable\u2019 \u2018green\u2019 energy transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a nod to reality, Eurocrats have deemed not only nuclear power but natural gas to be part of the new green team, much to the horror of the crony capitalists who profit from Europe\u2019s wind and solar scam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">JoNova takes a look at how Putin\u2019s territorial ambitions and stranglehold on Europe\u2019s gas supply have upended its energy policy, overnight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Major loss for Renewables Industry: EU declares nuclear and gas are \u201cGreen\u201d too<\/strong><br>Jo Nova Blog<br>Jo Nova<br>7 July 2022<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Why is nuclear power Green today when it wasn\u2019t yesterday? Nuclear power can be called green if a project promises to deal with radioactive waste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Greens are furious, not realizing that it was their work that made the EU an energy basket-case pouring money into Russia:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Campaigners are now vowing legal action.
