That current Nameplate is 8587MW, and this is from the current total of 69 wind plants.

Note that the shape of this wind power load curve does not follow the shape of the main load curve for total power generation, and that is seen in the image below, the solid black line across the top of the image for that graph. The daily average for this day of 4392MW gave wind generation a daily operational Capacity Factor of 51.5%, and that was twenty one percent higher than the year round average, and as I always say, note that even on a really good day for power generation, wind can still only average just half of its total Nameplate of 8587MW. Wind was (relatively) high at around the same time as the usual evening Peak for maximum power consumption, and at that time, wind was delivering a relatively good percentage of the overall total power generation from every source, and that percentage of supply at that time was almost 24%. With wind generation going as high as it did on this day, you can see again that there was a substantial difference between the low for the day and the high, and on this day, that gap was 2903MW.

The two days at the start of the week when wind generation was really low were offset by three days later in the week when wind generation was relatively high, albeit just half of Nameplate, and what that meant was that the operational Capacity Factor for the week came in at 35.15%, and that was five percent higher than the year round average. Even so, both long term averages for Capacity Factor changed only by the most minimal amount, barely hundredths of a percent in fact.

*****

Anton Lang uses the screen name of TonyfromOz, and he writes at this site, PA Pundits International on topics related to electrical power generation, from all sources, concentrating mainly on Renewable Power, and how the two most favoured methods of renewable power generation, Wind Power and all versions of Solar Power, fail comprehensively to deliver levels of power required to replace traditional power generation. His Bio is at this link.

OzWindPowerGenerationTFO

via PA Pundits – International

11/15/2021 by TonyfromOz

Australian Daily Wind Power Generation Data – Sunday 14 November 2021 – Plus Weekly Update

By Anton Lang ~ This Post details the daily wind power generation data for the AEMO coverage area in Australia.
